Popping Pimples

September 15th, 2009

I had a roommate who had pretty acne. He was never really bothered by it (I guess he was self confident enough to not let it get to him), but he did do something that got on the rest of us roommates’ nerves. He actually enjoyed popping his pimples, and would sometimes do it in front of us, much to our disgust.

Now we know you shouldn’t pop your pimples ever – not just in public. You see, most acne is bacteria trapped in your skin – causing the pimple. When you try to pop it, you can actually push the bacteria deeper into your skin, making it hard to get rid of – and most often, it’ll even spread! Plus, popping pimples causes redness and scarring in the future.

If you need to get rid of a pimple right away though (like before an event), try contacting a dermetologist. They often have ways to treat a pimple and get rid of it while minimizing infection, spreading, or scarring.

The Cause Of Acne

August 31st, 2009

There are no universal truths it seems about acne, but there are certainly universal myths.  The zit, pimple, acne, whatever you want to call it is a growing problem, and though we usually think of it as a teen problem, it happens in adults too.  It’s a greater part of life.  The thing that averts us unfortunately is the actual cause.  There are plenty of contributors, but no actual defined cause.  For example, toxins are known to contribute to acne and cause greater breakouts.

But in terms of the acne itself at the root, while it gets many cases and really gets the culprit, you have to keep doing it, because you cannot cure acne not knowing the actual cause.  Likewise, washing your face on a regular basis with the right cleanser for you often keeps acne under control and at bay.  However, it does not make it stop coming or otherwise.  Cutting out fried and fatty foods can certainly decrease your outbreaks, even eliminating them for the most part in some cases if you are using the right cleanser and otherwise to go along with it.

And finally stress.  Stress often is blamed for greater breakouts, and when your oil production and sweat production goes up due to stress, you do tend to have more breakouts and more problems.  However, if you eliminate stress all together, your acne will not all together go away.  So most myths surround the cause of acne and basically the idea that there is a valid cure.
